Gold in Brussels

The 'Concours Mondial de Bruxelles', the world's most famous contest for wines and spirits, was held in 2006 from 21-23 April in the Pavilhao Atlantico, Lisbon (Portugal). Around 5000 drinks were tasted by 200 experts from 40 countries. The judges included the world's best wine-production experts, respected sommeliers, journalists specialising in reviewing wines and fine foods, and also influential wine-industry representatives. Jenssen's 25-year-old XO Grand Champagne won the Gold Medal in the 'Cognacs' category.

Jenssen has been producing its Premier Cru de Cognac on the Le Maine Pertubaud estate, Bonneuil, France, since the year 2000. Located in the calciferous hills of the Grand Champagne region, the estate's vineyard occupies around 25 hectares. The entire production cycle takes place here, from wine preparation to distillation and aging in French oak barrels, including extra-matured batches. Every drink in Jenssen's exceptional product range, which includes the unique cognac XO Grand Champagne, is a product of the fine local coloration infused during the aging process.

The Brussels contest's winner, XO Grand Champagne, is a fully matured blend boasting a rich and refined taste with clearly distinguishable shades of bitterness, spice, sugared fruits and intoxicating herbs. When poured into a glass it constantly exudes new aromas, and it has a smooth and lingering aftertaste. It can be enjoyed separately or together with a Cuban cigar.

Prix Francois Premier

In 2004, Jenssen's 'Arcana' cognac was awarded the prestigious 'Prix Francois 1er de L´emballage de Luxe' at the International Packaging Exhibition in Paris for 'de luxe' class packaging. The award was bestowed by a jury headed by Givenchy artistic director Pablo Reinoso.

SSER medal of quality

The international SSER Medal of Quality contest was held from 21-24 November by the Russian Sommeliers and Experts Association (SSER). Jenssen's cognacs were assessed by a tasting panel, whose members included qualified foreign experts.
At the prize-giving ceremony for the alcohol industry, a gold medal was awarded to all the cognacs of the Jenssen range, and Jenssen L'Epiphanie Hors d'Age Extra was awarded the show's Grand Prix.

The SSER Medal of Quality is an individual prize awarded to drinks by recommendation of the International Commission as confirmation of their high quality and prestigiousness, and also brand strength.

X International Professional Wine Contest

The X International Professional Wine Contest was held in November 2006, organised by the Russian Agricultural Academy and the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Brewing, Non-alcoholic and Wine Production. The contest took place with support from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and participation by the Consumer Market and Services Department of the City of Moscow.

272 samples were presented at the contest, including 72 sparkling and effervescent wines, 109 grape and fruit wines, and 91 strong grape and fruit-based drinks. These included samples from Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Russia (Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Rostov Region, Dagestan), Spain, USA and Ukraine. In the 'Strong Grape and Fruit-based Drinks' category, Jenssen XO Grand Champagne received the Grand Gold Medal and Grand Prix, while Jenssen XO Carte Blanche was awarded the Special Medal for High Quality.
