Moscow International Winery (MMVZ) commenced operation in 1971, and today it is one of Russia's largest producers and bottlers of wines, brandies and vodkas. The total area of MMVZ's production and auxiliary premises is around 100 thousand square metres. Its plant employs around 850 persons, and total production in 2006 amounted to 1.5 million dl (of which 1 million dl related to wine production). The plant takes particular pride in its wine cellar. This 'treasure trove' contains over 200 thousand bottles of rare wines and 20 thousand bottles of brandy. Some of these bottles date back to before the Second World War, when they were initially stored against bombings as national treasures.
The numerous prizes awarded to the plant at various international and Russian exhibitions and contests are testament to the quality of its products. The plant has been a recipient of several prestigious international prizes ('Gold Globe', 'Arch of Europe Star for Excellence and Quality') and a winner of the 'International Prize for Best Quality'. It has also been awarded the 'Golden Bunch' and 'Golden Label' prizes. In 1999 the plant's products were awarded 6 gold medals at the Gourmand-99 exhibition and gold and silver medals at the 'International Wine Contest' in St. Petersburg. In 2000 OAO MMVZ received 12 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal at various international exhibitions. In 2003, the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Brewing, Non-alcoholic and Wine Production named OAO MMVZ as 'Best wine producer for 2003'. OAO MMVZ's products have also been awarded many other prizes and certificates.
The plant also holds a certificate confirming its status as 'Leader of the Russian Economy', as awarded to Russia's top enterprises.
In 2000 the plant sold 2,270 thousand decilitres of alcoholic beverages. Its product range is extremely varied, with around 60 types of wine, and core items including high-quality natural dry, semi-dry and semi-sweet wines, semi-sweet sparkling wines, and original wines, brandies and vodkas. 'Moscow International Winery' was initially conceived as a wine and brandy house, and today it is also one of the top five brandy producers by sales. The plant has received international acclaim for its outstanding successes in producing high-quality and competitive products, as well as for its role in the development of Russia's economy and its integration into the global system. MMVZ aims to satisfy varying consumer tastes through constant addition of new items to its product range.

The launch of a new vodka, 'Assembleya' is planned for 2007. This vodka is envisaged by its creators as a new 'yardstick of taste' for vodkas, with a recipe based on a blend of the finest grain spirits produced in various regions of Russia. The spirit is a key element for any vodka, going a long way toward defining its sensory qualities and, most importantly, its chemical copmosition. Spirit quality is dependent on regional origins, grain type, and crop-specific factors. In order to produce this vodka, only the highest-quality spirits are selected and mixed together in predetermined proportions until a consistant taste is achieved, with the fine undertones typical of the various spirits used. Each batch is 'hand-made' (proportions are selected differently each time according to a special method).
