The winery was set up in 1948 following a merger of 15 wine-production facilities. It is located in Northern Bulgaria on the banks of the River Danube, in an area home to 35% of Bulgaria's vineyards.
The winery has a total area of 91,000 m2, with production capacity allowing 57.6 thousand tonnes of grapes to be processed each year. In 1999 the facility underwent a complete overhaul and modernisation. Core sales markets for Vinprom Rousse production are Poland, UK, Russia (around 30%) and the Baltic.
Vinprom Rousse was Bulgaria's first wine producer to implement a production quality control system, and in 2000 the winery was certified for compliance with ISO 9002 (International Organisation for Standardisation), with ISO 9001 certification following in 2003. Introduction of ISO standards has enabled improvement in the enterprise's organisational and financial structure. In addition, the winery has been awarded a Golden Certificate by the British CMI/BRC Inspectorate (British Retail Consortium Global Standard – Food 2002).

Vinprom Rousse's modern wine-production technologies are combined with traditional aging in small barrels made from Bulgarian, French and American oak. The winery's product range includes high-quality natural dry fine wines with their own unique and unforgettable tastes.

Reserve – luxury fine wines: Oak barrel-matured Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay – notable for their highly evocative full-bodied and structured tastes.
Limited selection: Limited edition releases: oak barrel-matured Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay produced in limited batches of no more than 25,000 bottles per year.
